Dark clouds didn’t stop a large crowd from gathering in Maitland Street to celebrate the spirit of Christmas, with the lighting up of the new Narrabri Christmas tree.

The tree is located outside the post office in the centre of town and is an initiative of the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce, with the assistance of local businesses including Santos.

Santa made a special appearance while Narrabri’s Harmony Inc choir entertained with a selection of Christmas carols. Local school children sang and played musical instruments and Reverend Tim Baxter spoke about the meaning of Christmas.

The festivities wrapped up just in time, as a thunderstorm rolled in bringing some much needed rain and more joy to the locals in attendance.
