Santos notes its Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Narrabri Gas Project has been released by the NSW Government today for public review.
The Narrabri Gas Project has the potential to play a significant role in the domestic energy space and could supply up to 50% of NSW gas needs. Natural gas has a vital role to play in delivering energy security, whilst having the additional benefit of being 50% cleaner than coal resulting in a significant reduction in carbon emissions. The broader benefits of the Project to the region and the state are set out in the EIS and the Santos website.
The EIS will now be assessed by the NSW Government on behalf of the Commonwealth to ensure the Project meets the highest environmental standards. This process will include opportunities for interested parties to review the document and make submissions.
The NSW Government will invite public submissions as part of the exhibition period.
