Santos has commenced construction work on a water treatment facility at the Leewood property south of Narrabri.
The Leewood Phase 2 Project involves the construction of a reverse osmosis water treatment facility to treat salty ground water produced by the exploration and appraisal operations to a very high standard so it can be beneficially reused for purposes like irrigation. The irrigation water will meet Australian and NSW irrigation standards.
Santos has received all Government approvals required to begin this work and we will continue to work with all relevant stakeholders to ensure construction happens in a safe and sustainable manner.
Leewood Phase 2 follows on from the first phase of work at Leewood (Leewood Phase 1), which was the construction of state of the art double lined storage ponds and associated infrastructure.
