Santos welcomes the announcement today by the NSW Government to give approval to undertake the Leewood Produced Water Treatment and Beneficial Reuse Project (Leewood Phase 2 project).
Santos General Manager of Energy NSW Peter Mitchley said the Leewood Phase 2 project will involve the construction and operation of a produced water treatment facility that will use reverse osmosis technology to produce high quality treated water for beneficial reuse, including for irrigation.
“Santos has consulted with various Government Departments to answer the questions that were raised during the assessment process and we are pleased that these questions have been satisfactorily addressed,” he said.
“We will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure continued confidence in the Narrabri Gas Project.”
Leewood Phase 2 follows on from the first phase of work at Leewood, which was the construction and operation of double lined storage ponds and associated infrastructure.
